Sahel AI wins Best Idea Award

January 12, 2024

We are delighted to announce that Sahel AI, our startup focused on advancing AI adoption in Africa, has been awarded the Best Idea at the inaugural UCL School of Management SustainTech Pitching Competition. This recognition marks a significant milestone in our journey and reinforces our commitment to our mission. The competition, held at One Canada Square in Canary Wharf, London was a collaborative effort between the UCL School of Management and Tecno International, a consulting company specializing in sustainable technology. The event aimed to support forward-thinking individuals and startups with innovative ideas leveraging technology to build a sustainable future.

Our unique approach to building localized AI solutions responsibly in Africa resonated with the distinguished panel of experts. The panel included Micol Chiesa Churchill, Partner and Head of Impact at Planet Fund, and Julie Blane, Co-Founder of Sustainable Women's Network, among others.

Winning the Best Idea Award is not just an honor but a testament to the potential of our vision. As winners, we have been granted the invaluable opportunity of 12 months of Business Mentorship, as well as introductions to Tecno International's extensive network of business partners. These will undoubtedly accelerate our efforts to bring localized AI solutions to Africa and manage AI risks effectively.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the UCL School of Management and Tecno International for organizing this pitching competition and to the panel of experts for their recognition. We also want to acknowledge the relentless dedication and hard work of our team.

We are excited about the future as we continue to develop our AI solutions to address Africa’s pressing challenges while ensuring that AI adoption is safe, legal, and sustainable.
